HISTORY OF KATOOMBA ESTATE

Architectural HeritageBarbara Hickson, celebrated for her commitment to preserving architectural integrity while infusing modern elegance, designed Katoomba Estate to stand as a testament to timeless style.

Her vision brought to life a structure that not only harmonizes with its mountainous backdrop but also embodies the grandeur of historical architectures.

Each room within the estate serves as a sanctuary of global heritage, housing unique antiques and collectibles that owners John and Sipha have gathered from their extensive travels.

These pieces range from a hand-carved marble statue of a French girl to large Greek urns and Roman columns, each with its own story and originating from various corners of the globe.

The estate's gardens, designed by Sipha Hickson herself — a five-time Grand Champion district garden winner — are a crucial part of the home's history.

They feature over a hundred tons of imported granite, thoughtfully sculpted into meandering paths and robust garden walls.
Katoomba Estate offers a blend of relaxation and entertainment options designed to enrich every guest’s stay. The estate features a private home cinema, inspired by the French countryside, where guests can unwind with classic films in plush, luxurious seating. This personal theater experience is perfect for family movie nights or a quiet evening after a day of exploration.

Adjacent to the living areas, you'll find a serene greenhouse where tranquility reigns. It's an ideal spot for relaxation or enjoying a quiet read among lush plants and the subtle fragrances of blooming flowers. This peaceful haven offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
